View Video TributeJames Dee Neal, 75, of Hickory, died Monday, December 20, 2010, in the Washington Hospital, following a five-year illness.
He was born November 1, 1935, in Butler, a son of William George Neal, Sr. and Dorothy Nettie Walker Neal.
Mr. Neal attended Hickory High School and was a veteran of the Army. Most recently he worked as a horseman at Linden Creek Farms and previously as a horseman at a variety of local farms owned by Delvin Miller and family.
Mr. Neal enjoyed outdoor activities and gardening and fishing, especially fishing trips to Canada and Michigan.
His wife, Barbara Ann Carter, died September 24, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, David (Sue) Neal of Wexford and S. Scott (Jane) Neal of Washington; a daughter, Kelly Neal (Sherman Ackley) of Washington; a brother, William G. (Martha) Neal, Jr. of Washington; and nine grandchildren, Martin, Peter, Samuel, Randall, Christina, Adam, Samantha, Jessica and Joshua.
Also surviving is his first wife, Mary Witsberger Scott.
Deceased is a brother, Richard W. Neal.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23rd.
