Betty (Maxine) Kimble McKuhn, 72, of Washington, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, in Manor Care, after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. McKuhn was born on May 27, 1938, in Hopewell Township, a daughter of the late Merle E. and Maxine Main Kimble.
She was a 1956 graduate of Avella High School, and was actively involved for many years in Avella Area School’s PTA and Band Boosters, Independence 4-H and Independence Grange.
She was a member of Grove United Presbyterian Church in West Middletown for 58 years.
Mrs. McKuhn worked for Equibank and First National Bank locally, and as a secretary/bookkeeper. She retired from Falling Water Construction, McMurray, PA.
Mrs. McKuhn lived in the Independence/Avella area for 43 years, and spent 12 years in San Antonio, Texas. She and her husband, Tom, traveled extensively between Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania for many years.
Surviving is her husband of 30 years, MSG(R) Thomas H. McKuhn, a son, Dr. Joseph DePetro, III, of Avella, 2 daughters, Jodi DePetro (Tim) Dilliplane, of Wheeling, WV, and Jil DePetro (David) Kraeer, of Hickory; 3 sisters, Kathie (Carmen) Putorti and Nancy (Dean) Richmond, both of Washington, and Frances (William) Craft, of Woodruff, SC; a brother, Bruce (Judy) Kimble, of Claysville, 2 stepchildren, Cindy (Rick) Hughes, of Geneva, FL and Harold McKuhn, of Mims, FL; 6 grandchildren, David Kraeer, Lindsey Kraeer, Hannah Dilliplane, Ben Dilliplane, Jake DePetro and Maria DePetro; and 4 step grandchildren, Felicia McKuhn, Sheila Adams, John Demski and Sarah Hughes.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a son, Daniel J. DePetro, who died in 2001 and a brother, George M. Kimble, who died in 1955.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Jack Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
