Florence Marie Irey, 79, of Amwell Township, died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 8, 2011, in The Washington Hospital.
She was born October 12, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of Paul Nelson and Surrilda Matteson.
Mrs. Irey was a homemaker who enjoyed bingo, crafts, stitchery, baking cookies, and all sports, especially Pittsburgh sports.
On September 29, 1952, she married Raymond Irey, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Robert (Joyce) Matteson, Raymond (Wendy) Irey, Jr., James (Theresa) Irey, and Donald Irey (Jenene Hupp); two daughters, Anna (Frank) Przystup and Kathy (Dewey) Hall; a brother, Donald Matteson of Wellsburg, West Virginia; a sister, Emma Nine of Chino, California; and 13 grandchildren, Robert Matteson Jr., Brian Matteson, Heather Smith, Matthew Irey, Stacey Irey, Dianne and Joshua Przystup, James Irey Jr., George McMillen Jr., April McDade, Adam McMillen, Dewey Hall II, and Penny Manising; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, William, Charles, Earnest, James and John Matteson; and five sisters, Dorothy Kapis, Myrtle Herd, Helen Dubina, Mildred Johnston and Mary Matteson.
Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 13th in Friendship Community Church, 354 Weirich Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park.
