Helen Gielata Craig, 88 of Washington, formerly of Wolfdale, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2011.
She was born January 16, 1922, in Zollarsville, a daughter of Michael and Anna Podmocka Gielata.
Mrs. Craig was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church and attended the Washington Wesleyan Church until its closing.
She was a 1940 graduate of West Bethlehem High School and worked at Tygart Valley until her marriage.
On November 5, 1946, in the Third United Presbyterian Church, she married Bill Craig, who died July 8, 2008.
Mrs. Craig was known for her beautiful smile and her love of God and her family. She loved to cook and bake and entertain her loved ones. She had a very kind and generous spirit.
Surviving are a son, Art Craig and wife Sue, of Unionville, Tennessee; a daughter, Sherri Cole and husband Jack, of Lagonda; four grandsons, Jack Cole III and wife Melissa of Washington, Bill Craig II, Scott Craig, Steve Craig and wife Molly of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Renne Dowler and husband Tom of Washington; five precious great-grandchildren that brightened her world, Emily and Craig (CJ) Cole, Faith Dowler, Ashley Craig and Jaylyn Craig; two sisters, Mary Fidora of Michigan and Bernice Borkowski of Washington; one brother, Joe Gielata of McKees Rocks; a Godson, Gary Borkowski; and several nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind her wonderful caregiver, Charlotte Mesic.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, is a sister, Sally Krupzig.
There will be no public viewing. A service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
