Helen Day Barlow, 89, of Washington, died January 21, 2011, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care.
Helen was born December 1, 1921, in Washington, Pa, the daughter of Paul H. and Romaine Keeney Day.
She graduated from Trinity High School in 1940. She was employed by Production Credit for several years and then by the law firm of Bloom, Bloom, and Yard.
July 2, 1949, in Winchester, VA., she was united in marriage with Richard Barlow, who died October 7, 1982.
She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, The Retired Persons’ Social Club, and the A.A.R.P.
She was an avid sports fan, particularly her Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. She was a fan of McGuffey Football and Track as well as West Virginia Wesleyan and W&J Football.
She is survived by two sons, Richard D. (Debra Kehoe) Barlow and Thomas J. (T.J.) (Connie Watkins) Barlow, of Washington, six grandchildren, Brittney (Alexandre Aubrun) Barnhart of Angouleme, France, and Richard Barnhart of Philadelphia; Allyson Barlow (David) France of Sylvania, OH, and Zachary (Mary Ann Ryan) Barlow of Washington, Ashleigh and Elizabeth (Libby) Barlow, of Washington, and four great-grandchildren, Beau and Beckett Barlow and Teagan and Mckenna France.
Predeceasing Helen is her beloved daughter, Mary Louise Barlow Barnhart, one sister, Opal Day Hower Mollenauer, and two brothers, Paul P. Day and Thomas F. Day.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Education Sorority, c/o 155 Moger Drive, Washington, PA 15301.-
