Frank Cokel, Jr., 85, of Matlacha, Florida, formerly of Washington, died January 29, 2011, in his residence.
He was born January 26, 1926, in Avella, a son of Frank Cokel, Sr. and Theresa Tolar Cokel.
Mr. Cokel attended Avella schools and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
He was a foreman in various coalmines, including Tylerdale, Pinella Coal Company, Mathies Coal Company, Westland Mine, Montour Four, and Mathies-Harmon Coal Company.
Mr. Cokel was a member of Pulaski Club and a lifetime member of SNPJ Club.
On June 29, 1951, he married O’Nile Alma Hertig, who died April 9, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Jo Cokel, of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters, Sophia Puskarich, of Niles, Ohio; and Irene (Dave) Farrer, of Washington; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Cokel (Michael) Blair, of Venetia; four grandchildren, Demi, Karly, Preston, and Jaden Blair; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Karl Cokel; five brothers, Robert and Joseph Cokel, Charles, Louis, and Rudolph Ograyensek; and three sisters, Matilda Kimble, Rose Christman, and Mary Segreto.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
