Martin Francis “Moe” Strnisha, 85, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 6, 2011, in his home. He was born July 8, 1925, to the late Martin and the late Sophie (Bokal) Strnisha of Lincoln Hill. Moe was a member of Trinity High School class of 1944 prior to joining the Army in 1946. He was employed by Kroger for 35 years. On September 5, 1948, he married Albina M. Evans, who survives. Moe was a member of Friendship Community Church in Washington, a 50-year life member of SNPJ Lodge 617, the Washington Senior Citizens bowling and dart ball teams and American Legion Post 175. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Washington-Greene Chapter, in the class of 1994 for his soccer achievements. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 62 years, are five children, Jan, John and Marty (Helen) Strnisha, all of Washington, Jim (Sujin) Strnisha of Frederick, Maryland, and Nancy Rexroad (Mike) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six grandchildren, Sheena (Mike) Marshall of Pineville, North Carolina, Jonya Strnisha of Washington, Jae and Amanda Strnisha of Frederick, Maryland, and Johnathan and Jennifer Rexroad of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a brother, William J. Strnisha; and a sister, Julia Muncie, both of Washington. A son, Martin Francis Strnisha, Jr., and a daughter, Janice Marie Strnisha, died in infancy. Preceding him in death are three brothers, Ed Strnisha, Frank Yuvan, and Tony Yuvan; and three sisters, Christine (Teenie) Brennen, Sophie Soltis and Helen Spehar. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 10th, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
