Shirley Jean Szolek, 74, of Washington, died Monday, February 7, 2011, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
She was born May 31, 1936, in Greene County, a daughter of Wilbur and Ruth Roberts Rinehart.
A graduate of Trinity High School, she worked as a packer/selector and inspector at Brockway #7 for 19 years and a nursing assistant at Humbert Lane for 10 years.
Mrs. Szolek loved dancing, playing cards, the outdoors and the Steelers and Pirates.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving are a son, Kevin (Becky) Szolek of Avella; a daughter, Kimberly Szolek, with whom she made her home; a brother, Charles Rinehart of Washington; a sister, Patricia (Roy) McKnight of Washington; five grandchildren, Alicia, Shaina (Chase Rohr), Kayla, Jacob and Megan; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased is a sister-in-law, Barbara Rinehart.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 11th, with Rev. Jeffrey Conn officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
