Vivian Ellen Hathaway, 63, of South Franklin Township, died Friday, February 11, 2011, in Donnell House. She was born August 9, 1947, in Washington, a daughter of Geraldine Ravoira Martin of Washington and the late Harold L. Martin. She attended Lagonda (Joe Walker) Elementary School, graduated from McGuffey High School in 1965, where she was an honor roll student and cheerleader, and attended Slippery Rock University and California University. Mrs. Hathaway had been a member of the Girl Scouts, 4-H Club and Homemakers Club. She had worked at Kaufmann’s and Macy’s. Mrs. Hathaway especially enjoyed her grandchildren, her cats, Cupcake and Bandit, and her co-workers. She loved having family at her home for birthday and holiday celebrations. On April 19, 1968, at the West Washington United Methodist Church, she married Kenneth E. Hathaway, who died August 5, 2000. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Kenneth E. (Laura) Hathaway, of Bethel Park; a daughter, Kelly A. (Nickolas) Vayansky of Lawrence; a sister, Donna (Dennis) Makel of Washington; a brother, Barry N. Martin of Prosperity; four grandchildren, Sara Hathaway, Noah Hathaway, Emma N. Hull and Reagan Hathaway; and her mother-in-law, Mary Hathaway of Washington. Deceased, in addition to her father and her husband, are a niece, Amy Bentz; and her father-in-law, Kenneth E. Hathaway. Friends will be received Sunday from Noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 14th, with Rev. Robert Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301; or to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty-Four, PA 15330.
