James L. Hughes

James L. Hughes, 78, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, in Washington County Health Center. He was born December 6, 1932, in Paris, a son of Donald and Mildred Fonner Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and attended Penn Commercials for two years. He worked as a district accountant for West Penn Power for 35 years. Mr. Hughes was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and sports and, in his youth, playing baseball and softball. On August 29, 1960, he married Patricia Soisson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James Mark Hughes of Washington; a daughter, Lisa Ann Hughes of Erie; four sisters, Thelma Lemmon, Betty Hudson, Lesetta Adamson and Donna Kay St. Clair; and a grandchild, Derek Marcus Hughes. Deceased is a brother, Leo “Bud” Hughes. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 21st, with Rev. Ruth Lantz Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Park.
