Harry Hunter Pettit, 64, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at home, surrounded by his wife and two girls. He was born September 29, 1946, in Washington, a son of Harry and Eleine Lyons Pettit. Mr. Pettit was employed by Rice Electric Company for 30 years. He served in the United States Navy from January 20, 1965, until his honorable discharge on April 25, 1966. Mr. Pettit was a member of the Washington Cruisers and enjoyed going to car shows and working on his street rod. In addition, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Pettit was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship. On April 5, 1968, he married Brenda Mundell, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tracy Varga (Eric) of Monongahela and Wendy Pettit (Dave) of Washington; a brother, Charles William Lyons of Little Rock, Arkansas; four sisters, Alice Shuba (Stanley) of Washington, Peggy Rice (Bill) of Scenery Hill, and Patty Barnes and Lois McCombs, both of Washington; and four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole and Angelina Marie D’Alessandro and Brandon and Nick Varga. Friends will be received Saturday form 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 28th, with Pastor Andrew Cobucci officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
