Clarence M. “Sonny” McNary, 72, of Washington, died Friday, February 25, 2011, in Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon, following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 3, 1938, in Thomas, Nottingham Township, a son of Merle and Dorothy Cuthbert McNary.
Mr. McNary graduated from Trinity High School. He worked at McAnallen Corporation for 30 years, retiring as superintendent. For the past five years, he was owner of McNary Pennzoil of Eighty-Four.
Mr. McNary was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 84, Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council of Carpenters and L.O.O.M. 22. He enjoyed hunting, boating and camping and was an avid lottery player.
Surviving are his significant other, Patty Abajace; a son, Danny McNary of Finleyville; a brother, Glenn (Mary) McNary of Washington; three sisters, Ethel (Archie) Chalfant of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; Donna (Richard) Kraeer of Hickory and Jean Salerno of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Adam (Amy), Dallas and Chad Fowler; and a great-grandchild, Aubrey McNary; several nieces and nephews; and two great-nieces.
Deceased are a son, James; and a brother, Merle Allen McNary.
Friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1st, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh PA 15243.
