Bentleyville resident was bowler, loved fishing.
Charles A. "Big Chuck" Ellis Sr., 57, of Bentleyville, died unexpectedly Monday, February 28, 2011, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born January 4, 1954, in Washington, a son of the late James A. and Margaret M. Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a graduate of Washington High School and he served in the U.S. Army.
He worked in maintenance at the Washington County Housing Authority. Mr. Ellis bowled for Columbia Gas Bowling League as well as Marianna Lyceum Bowling League. He enjoyed umpiring Twist Softball and Washington Adult Softball at Washington Park, and he loved going fishing.
He leaves behind a companion, Tammy Bell of Bentleyville; three daughters, Starletta Ellis and Courtney Ellis, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Tamara Ellis of Bentleyville; two brothers, James and David Ellis, both of Washington; five sisters, Alice Ellis of Washington, Patricia Ellis of Canonsburg, Grace Ellis of Washington, Helen Newton of Washington and Margaret Mallory of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Ellis and Chantel Ellis, both of Washington; and two brothers-in-law, Michael Mallory of Canonsburg and Bill Coney of Washington. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as longtime devoted friends.
Deceased are a son, Charles Ellis Jr., and a grandson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, March 5, in St. Paul AME Church, 16 Ridge Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Arthur Doctor Jr. officiating. William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd. is in charge of arrangements.
