Evelyn K. Dobroski

December 5, 1942 — March 4, 2011

Evelyn K. Dobroski, age 68, of Cross Creek Township, died on March 4, 2011, from complications resulting from pancreatic cancer surgery. She was born on December 5, 1942, the daughter of Paul and June J. (Marchinsky) Kabo, both deceased. Mrs. Dobroski was a graduate of Avella High School and Penn Commercial College, was an employee of National Insurance Co., attorney Charles Sweet, Jessop Steel, Department of the Army, Superior Valve Co., 911th Air Lift Wing (AFRES) and retired as Financial Manager from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2005. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Washington, PA, where she served on the church council, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in the Women’s Circle. She was also a 4-H Leader, participated in the Avella Band Boosters, serving as president, secretary, and treasurer. Mrs. Dobroski enjoyed singing, belonging at one time to both the Washington County Arts Choir, in addition to the church choir, enjoyed outdoor activities, such as gardening, and was a member of several historical re-enactment groups. But what she enjoyed the most were her beloved grandsons, Nathaniel and Wesley. On April 23, 1966, she married Harry Dobroski, Jr., who survives. Also surviving are her beloved daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Black, her son-in-law, Mark E. Black, and two grandsons, Nathaniel and Wesley. Her three surviving siblings are Delores Peterson, of Ventura, California, Paul Kabo, Jr., of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Loretta Peeples, of Melbourne, Florida; nephews, David E. Peterson, Robert D. Peterson, and Kenneth C. Peterson, of California, Erik M. Kabo, of Maryland, Timothy Fisher, of Florida; and nieces, Joyce Hardison and Tina Beasley, of Florida. Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, in First Lutheran Church, Washington, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery, Avella. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Lutheran Church, North Franklin and Walnut Street, Washington, PA 15301.
