James Albert Stolfer, 80, of Amwell Township, died Sunday, March 13, 2011. He was born May 1, 1930, in Washington, a son of Rudolph C. and Anna Lackovich Stolfer. Mr. Stolfer graduated from Trinity High School. He served in the Army from September 19, 1955, until his honorable discharge as a sergeant on July 14, 1957. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Stolfer worked as an installation technician for Bell of Pennsylvania for 28 years and also operated Stolfer’s Chicken Burger Stand on Waynesburg Road in Amwell Township. He was a member of the Elks and Pioneers and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and being with his grandchildren. Mr. Stolfer was a member of First Lutheran Church. On May 13, 1961, he married Ruth Joyce Zimmerman, who died March 1, 2009. Surviving are a son, James A. (Jeanne) Stolfer, II, of Washington; a daughter, Merrie Ellyn Stolfer (Randy Pesino) of Pompano Beach, Florida; one sister, Sally Martin of Washington; three grandchildren, Joshua Reid Stolfer, Abigaile Anne Stolfer and Robert James Stolfer; and Aaron Kozak, whom he considered a son. Deceased, in addition to his wife, are four brothers, Rudy, Dick, John and Bob Stolfer; and a sister, Judy Hanam. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19th, in First Lutheran Church, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Amwell Township Historical Society, P.O.
