Tony Ardeno, 85, of Washington, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 14, 2011.
He was born October 24, 1925, in Washington, a son of Mike and Rose Marie Franks Ardeno.
During World War II, he served in the Navy from January 7, 1944, until his honorable discharge as a Seaman, second-class, on February 10, 1946. Mr. Ardeno was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, American Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
For 32 years, Mr. Ardeno worked as a sandblaster at Cooper Industries.
He was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, Houston, the Moose Lodge, and Hawkins Post Home VFW 927, where he was past commander.
Mr. Ardeno was once involved with CB radios and civil defense, and was a former 8th ward constable.
On January 19, 1952, he married Charlotte Eleanor Grantz, who died June 14, 2000.
Surviving are a son, A. Michael (Robin) Ardeno; three daughters, Charlene (Greg) Atkins, Dianna Lynn (William) Miles, and Selena Evaughn (Richard) Thomas; a brother, John Ardeno; a sister, Rose Skariot, all of Washington; nine grandchildren, Tina (Bo), Joe (Lori), Matthew (Holly), Andrew, Heather, Sashela, Justine, Tori and Seth; and four great-grandchildren, Abby, Owen, Jack and Kayla.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Darlene Ardeno, who died at birth; four brothers, James, Joseph, Frank and Samuel Ardeno; and four sisters, Nell Hardy, Angie Webster, Jennie West and Katie Regierro.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 16th, with Rev. Don O’Hare officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
