Virgil Howard Tucker, 83, of Washington, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Humbert Lane, after a 6-week illness.
He was born on June 15, 1927, in Charlestown, WV, a son of Emmett and Vasta Davis Tucker.
Mr. Tucker had worked for Washington Mould as a grinder and also at Brockway Glass.
On November 8, 1950, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, and served as a Private First Class, until his honorable discharge on November 13, 1956.
He was Protestant by faith, and enjoyed coin collecting, crossword puzzles, yard work, old cars and country music.
On November 27, 1954, he married Betty Jane McGinnis, who survives.
Also surviving are 4 daughters, Mary Tucker and Kathryn Murray, both of Washington, Karen Tucker, of Wendell, NC and Amy Tucker, of Washington; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Porter, of Canonsburg and Syrena Hickman, of Houston, PA and 2 great grandchildren, Liam and Destin Porter, both of Canonsburg.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
