Wendell Ralph Pryor

Wendell Ralph Pryor, 68, of Eighty-Four, died Friday, March 18, 2011, in Donnell House, following a brief illness. He was born March 19, 1942, in Washington, a son of Guy E. and Edith Parker Pryor. Mr. Pryor attended Hickory High School and, in 1960, graduated from the first class at Fort Cherry High School, where he served as the class vice president and was involved in Future Farmers of America. He was a self-employed sign painter and also drove for D & W Bus Co. Mr. Pryor was a member of Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church and Duncan and Miller Glass Club. He was also a member of SPEBSQSA, the Society for Preservation and Encouragement for Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Mr. Pryor was a three-time silver medalist in the barbershop quartet, Center Stage, for which he sang tenor. On February 8, 1964, in Mt. Prospect United Presbyterian Church, he married Nancy Beaumariage, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Wayne Robert Pryor of Cuddy and Warren Reed Pryor of Washington; three brothers, Kenneth Pryor of West Alexander, Walter Pryor of Washington, and Wayne Pryor of Detroit, Michigan; two grandchildren, Stephanie Lynette and Jared Warren Pryor; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Melvin Pryor. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 24th, with Rev. Donald Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Creek Cemetery, Fallowfield Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Foundation Institute, 110 Seventh Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203; or to Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
