Brenda Lee Evans, 62, of Washington, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, in the Washington Hospital. She was born November 15, 1948, in Beards Fork, West Virginia, a daughter of William and Ruth Hawkins Judd. Mrs. Evans attended Penn Commercial and West Virginia Tech. She worked at Citizen’s Library for 24 years, starting there in 1982, and also worked as an editorial assistant at the Observer-Reporter for 20 years. Mrs. Evans enjoyed serving God, being with her sons, visiting family in West Virginia, and making everyone happy. A blue-blooded Democrat, she was an avid reader who enjoyed all animals, especially her cat, Kitty, and dog, Snowball. Mrs. Evans was Baptist. In the spring of 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio, she married Lucas Beverly Evans, who died April 30, 1988. Surviving are three sons, Shawn Corey (Katy) Evans, Raymond Evans and Joseph Edward Evans, all of Washington; three brothers, William A. (Sandra) Judd, Jr. of Beards Fork, West Virginia, Meredith Dwayne Judd of Beckley, West Virginia, and Raymond Lee (Missy) Judd of Montgomery, West Virginia; three sisters, Linda Stewart and Cynthia Rollins, both of Beards Fork and Rhonda L. (Harold) Lewis, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Nelly Ruth Hawkins. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, Monday, March 28th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
