James M. Carl, 83, of Washington, died Monday, March 28, 2011, in his home.
He was born January 13, 1928, in Burgettstown, a son of Walter and Addah Bell Carl.
Mr. Carl attended Chartiers-Houston High School and worked at Jessop Steel for 32 years, retiring from the electric furnace department.
He enjoyed gardening, his flowers, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Carl was a veteran of the Army, serving from May 27, 1954, until his honorable discharge on May 26, 1956, as a Private, First Class.
He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 for 25 years.
Mr. Carl will be sadly missed by friends and family.
On August 3, 1957, he married Ruth Blacka, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (John) Kerchner and Patricia Carl, both of Washington; two grandsons, David (Jessica Poland) Kerchner of Washington and Airman, First Class Benjamin (Elizabeth Glowark) Kerchner, USAF, of Lakenheath, England; three brothers, Howard (Shirley) Carl of Hickory, Melvin (Virginia) Carl and Raymond (Alice) Carl, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2nd. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Firing Squad, 168 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
