David T. Funk, 85, of Washington, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, in Donnell House.
He was born April 12, 1925, in Greene County, a son of Harry and Nellie Day Funk.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Funk served in the Navy from August 5, 1943, until his honorable discharge on April 5, 1946, with a rank of Seaman, First Class. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Funk also served his country as a member of the Navy Reserves from February 11, 1948, until February 10, 1953.
He was employed by Hazel-Atlas for 21 years and then Washington Steel for 26 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Funk was a member of Washington Lodge 164 F& AM, 32nd degree; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh; Syria Temple AAONMS of Pittsburgh; Washington-Greene County Caravan; and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
He was Presbyterian by faith and enjoyed hunting, sports, and golf.
On May 17, 1947, he married Mary Audia, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Patricia Funk of Scott Township.
There will be no public visitation. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
