Edward F. Rowe, 95, of Washington, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in Consulate Health Care, North Strabane Township.
He was born November 11, 1915, in Akron, Ohio, a son of Frederick A. Rowe and Agnes Ford Rowe.
During World War II, Mr. Rowe served in the Army, Battery B, 927th Field Artillery Battalion. Inducted on May 29, 1945, he served in the European Theater as a truck driver and earned the World War II Victory Medal and Army Occupation Medal – Germany. He was honorably discharged on July 19, 1946, with a rank of Corporal.
Mr. Rowe worked at Washington Meat Market and Rungo Grocery, sold Lifetime pots and pans, and retired from Washington Steel Company.
He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church.
On June 9, 1938, he married Margaret Brown, who died March 5, 2006.
Surviving are a sister, Martha McBride, of Georgia; two grandchildren, Randy (Maureen) Rowe of Alaska and Diana Lynn Rowe of Washington; a great-grandson, Wyatt R. Rowe of Alaska; and a daughter-in-law, Doris Ann Rowe of Washington.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a son, Fred L. Rowe; three sisters, Agnes Tarr, Lillian Barnhart and Elizabeth McVay; and two brothers, Thomas and George Rowe.
There will be no public visitation or services.
