Alfred W. (Pete) Morris

Alfred W. “Pete” Morris, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. He was born February 12, 1927, in Washington, a son of Charles and Mary Emmaline Hughes Morris. Mr. Morris enlisted in the Navy on January 3, 1945, and served until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1946. He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Morris returned to school, graduating from Washington High School in 1948. He worked at Allegheny Ludlum and was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Mr. Morris enjoyed boating, woodworking and woodcarving. In July 1948, he married LaGene Marilyn Morris, who died April 21, 2011. Surviving are two sons, Timothy (Debbie) Morris of Canonsburg and Rodney Morris of Washington; two brothers, Charles Morris of Houston and Gary Morris of Radcliff, Kentucky; a sister, Marjorie Lease of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Janet Grimm. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where additional visitation will be held Saturday, May 21st, from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
