Joseph G. Urbanek, 81, of Washington, died on Saturday, May 21, 2011, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 18, 1929, in Washington, a son of Joseph and Helen Dubelle Urbanek.
Mr. Urbanek had worked at worked at McGraw Edison, which later became Cooper Industries, for 44 years.
A 1947 graduate of Washington High School, he belonged to Immaculate Conception Church.
He loved bowling and was active in Alpine Leagues for many years, and also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
On November 29, 1958, in Winchester, VA, he married Josephine G. Prodo, then reaffirmed in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on March 17, 1990. Josephine died on December 16, 1991.
Surviving is his companion, Stephanie Bozek.
Also surviving are a son, Robert Brodnick, of Washington; a daughter, Yvonne (John W.) Bradford, of Washington; a sister, Stella Spryszak, of Newberry, OH; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Edward Urbanek, 2 sisters, Eleanor Karoleski and Alice Urbanek and a grand daughter, Leslie Ann Bradford.
Friends will be received on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
