Freda Leona Headley, 95, of Washington, died Monday, May 23, 2011, in her residence.
She was born April 24, 1916, in Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of Clarence and Lenora Summerfield Smith.
Mrs. Headley worked as a cook at the Washington Restaurant for many years.
She enjoyed playing dominos with the children and playing bingo.
Mrs. Headley never met a stranger – to all she was “Freda.” She was a great inspiration to all she met and will always be remembered for her great outlook on life; always pulling through when the odds were against her, always encouraging others to deal with what they have.
Mrs. Headley immensely enjoyed her large birthday parties, which she helped coordinate. Nothing made her happier than receiving company—she always put on that cute smile and her angel eyes lit up.
She made her home with her daughter, Julie White, who was her caregiver and constant companion, and her cat, Nila.
Mrs. Headley will be greatly missed by her family, friends, Dr. Kitsko, Dr. Fuerst, nurses Barb Coleman and Chris Hughes, and all the staff at the Washington Hospital.
On November 30, 1935, she married Charles R. Headley, Sr., who died February 26, 1980.
