Charles Richard “Fergie” Ferguson, 76, of Washington, died Sunday, May 22, 2011.
He was born April 2, 1935, in Weston, West Virginia, a son of Isaac William and Susan Goodrich Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was a letter carrier for 30 years.
He was a member of the Pulaski, Elks, and Arms Clubs and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. Mr. Ferguson enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing golf and pool.
A veteran of the Air Force, he served from November 4, 1953, until his honorable discharge on October 16, 1957, as an airman, first class. Mr. Ferguson earned a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
On August 29, 1959, he married Betty Jean Baumgartner, who died August 3, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Charles Ferguson, Jr., of Washington; a daughter, Kristine Jean Georgetti of Washington; a brother, Harry Ferguson of Detroit, Michigan; three grandchildren, Chance, Sierra and Sarah; and a step-grandchild, Taylor.
Deceased are four brothers, George, Bill, Roy and Bud; and three sisters, Marge, Edith and Julia.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 25th. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
