Gene O’Neal Snyder, 97, of Bridgeville, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, in Washington.
She was born June 3, 1913, in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of John R. and Raye Squires O’Neal.
Mrs. Snyder was owner and operator of Snyder’s Telephone Answering Service for twenty-nine years.
She was a member of Washington’s Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Soroptimist Organization and Washington Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Snyder was a Cub Scout den mother for fifteen years and a volunteer at AMI in Washington.
She especially enjoyed her family, liked to solve crossword puzzles, and play bingo.
On December 16, 1934, she married Edward Earle Snyder, Sr., who died February 29, 1980.
Surviving are three sons, Edward E. (Barbara) Snyder, Jr., of Houston, George Howard (Beverly) Snyder, of Bradenton, FL., and Charles Vernon (Sue) Snyder, of Toledo, OH; a daughter, A. Louise Mahan, of Bridgeville; eight grandchildren, Anthony John Snyder, Edward Earle Snyder, III, Jody Lynn Zook, George Howard Snyder, Jr., Kevin Michael Snyder, Jeremy Douglas Snyder, Charles Matthew Snyder and Christopher David Snyder; eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
Deceased are a sister, Susie Hill; four brothers, Jack, Patsy, Forrest and Kenneth O’Neal; and a granddaughter, Jean A. Rudd.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to AMI, Inc., 907 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
