View Video TributeJack Howard Killen, 84, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Thursday, June 9, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born November 17, 1926, in Washington, a son of Harry Edward Killen, Sr. and Alma Robena Knowles Killen.
Mr. Killen was a high school graduate and attended Bliss Electrical School for two years.
On February 19, 1945, during World War II, he was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Certificate of Satisfactory Service, Honorable Discharge Button and was Honorably Discharged on August 12, 1946.
Mr. Killen worked at West Penn Power, as an Electrical Control Technician, for over forty years.
He was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, was a member of the church choir, and co-chair of the Building Committee when a new church was built, and a member of Sunset Lodge #623.
He enjoyed his family and especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
On June 27, 1952, he married Clarice Valjean Beecham, who survives, and with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this year.
Also surviving are two sons, Douglas H. (Cheryl) Killen, of Washington, Brent E. (Lisa) Killen, of McMurray; three daughters, Cynthia V. (Glenn) Kerr, Lisa M. Crile, and Colleen D. Killen, all of Washington; twelve grandchildren, Ian and Cameron Killen, Ryan (Linette) Kerr, Megan (James) Carroll, Shannon Kerr, Cristin (Michael) Litman, Ashley (Travis) Ward, Alyssa Crile, Brendan, Kyle, Ireland, and Kasen Killen; and a great granddaughter, Allison Litman.
Deceased are four brothers, Harry E. Killen, Jr., Bernard O. Killen, Warren K. Killen, and a brother who died in infancy; and two sisters, Edith Dorothy Killen Wilkinson, and Nellie Ruth Killen Kiger.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, and noon to 3:00 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday,in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday,June 13, 2011, in Third United Presbyterian Church, 22 Cortez Drive, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
