Florence Martin Frye, 83, of McDonald, died Monday, June 13, 2011, in Country Meadows, Bridgeville. She had been ill since September 2010.
She was born December 15, 1927, in Lone Pine, a daughter of George Mason and Gladys Kelley Martin.
Mrs. Frye was a graduate of Trinity High School. For 10 years, she worked in the cafeteria at Hickory Elementary School.
She was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, and a former member of the Lioness Club.
On August 23, 1947, she married William Edgar Frye, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William E. Frye, Jr., of McDonald and Ronald Frye of Elizabethtown; a brother, James G. Martin of Mentor, Ohio; five grandchildren, Rhonda Frye, Jesse Frye, Erica Palmer, Richard “Rocky” McGeary and Kimberly Dawson; 10 great-grandchildren, Maranda West, Shelby West, Rowan Frye, Keaton Frye, Amanda McGeary, Samantha McGeary, Rocky McGeary, Ty McGeary, Sydney Dawson and Broc Dawson.
Deceased is a sister, Betty Chester.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Thursday, June 16th, in Hickory United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. R. Douglas Reinard officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Prospect Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory United Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 210 Main Street, Hickory, PA 15340.
