View Video TributeCarolyn S. Spossey, 72, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Magee Women’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a 10-day illness.
She was born July 25, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of the late Gaylord and Mary Susan Woodburn Scott.
Mrs. Spossey was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School and attended two years of nursing school at St. John’s in Pittsburgh.
She enjoyed playing slot machines at the casino, playing bridge, and watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball.
Mrs. Spossey was a member of Saint Hilary Roman Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society.
On January 3, 1957, she married L. Anthony “Sonny” Spossey, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Wray (Stacey) Spossey of League City, Texas, Mark (Christy) Spossey of Pearland, Texas, and Lisa (Tim) Gorby of Washington; two brothers, Gaylord Scott, Jr. of Warrenton, Virginia, and William David Scott of Manassas, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Tanner, Turner and Taylen Gorby, Jessica and Alexis Spossey, Christopher, Brooke, Trey, Antonia, Madalyn and Connor Spossey; and one great-grandchild, Ayvari.
Deceased is a brother, Robert G. Scott.
A public memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
