Dale Ernest Rager

Dale Ernest Rager, 75, of Washington, died Monday, June 20, 2011, in his residence. He was born October 8, 1935, in Bismarck, North Dakota, a son of William Sherman and Gratel Moen Rager. Mr. Rager was a graduate of Scio High School in Ohio. He worked as a bar tender at local clubs and organizations. Mr. Rager was a member of VFW 927, where he served as an officer for several years, the L.O.O.M., Jessop Club and Taylorstown Legion. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, reading and the Steelers. Mr. Rager was inducted into the Army on January 12, 1954, and served until his honorable discharge on January 11, 1956. He was a Sharpshooter, M-1, and Sharpshooter, Carbine, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. On June 23, 1958, Mr. Rager enlisted into the Army, and served until his honorable discharge on March 29, 1961. During this enlistment he served in Germany and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, Germany. On March 30, 1961, Mr. Rager re-enlisted in the Army and served until January 23, 1965. During this enlistment he earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Letter of Appreciation and Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle. On November 17, 1979, he married Mary Lee Hall, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dean Stoner of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Clint (Dawn) Stoner of Washington; two daughters, Lisa Marie (Joe Jr.) Behanna of Washington and Teresa Lee Howery of Fayetteville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Dale Seibert Jr., William Rager Seibert, Jesse James Stoner, Jessica Lee Howery, Robyn Nicole Skipper, David Lee Skipper, and Thomas Eugene Skipper; and three great-grandchildren, Faith Marie Seibert, Xavier Marquette Davis and Kira Powell. Deceased is a grandchild, Jeannie Lee Seibert. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, June 22nd, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
