Clyde R. Johnson, 79, of Claysville, died July 18, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1932, in Washington (Vankirk Station), a son of Harold Wayne Johnson, Sr. and Lena Margaret Wurtzer Johnson.
Mr. Johnson attended Trinity High School and worked as a plant engineer for Molycorp/Union Oil.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He also was a member of T.P.A and “Last Chance Hunting Lodge” in Potter County. He enjoyed antiquing and building things, especially sawmills and log splitters, and spending time with his entire family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren.
On February 12, 1949, he married Marlyn Wright, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah (Dennis) Standiford of Washington; two sons, Merl (Patricia) Johnson an David (Kathy) Johnson, both of Taylorstown; two sisters, Hazel (Charles) Crawford and Shirley (Jack) Taylor, both of Washington; and seven grandchildren, Abbie Cox, Eric, Jared, and Jason Johnson, Jennifer Chumney, and Daniel and Rebecca Johnson and 11great-grandchildren, Madison Cox, Reghan Johnson, Kenedie Johnson, Lincoln Johnson, Christian Johnson, Ava Mae Chumney, Alexandria Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Carsen Johnson, and Chett Johnson.
Deceased are a sister, Margaret Ptaszek; and a brother, Harold Wayne “Sam” Johnson, Jr.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 21st, with Rev. Keith Hornung and Rev. Giard Sayre co-officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Washington Alliance Children’s Center or TPA.
