Howard C. Sims

Howard Clarke Sims, Jr., 71, of New Salem, formerly of Lone Pine, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in Uniontown Hospital, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1940, in Washington, a son of Howard C. Sims, Sr. and Mary Jane Piacenza Sims. Mr. Sims graduated from Trinity High School in 1959 and was a self-employed farmer. He enjoyed tractor pulling at the fair and greatly enjoyed working on the family farm. He was a member of Church of the Covenant. Surviving are a son, Clark Sims (Traci) of Lone Pine; a daughter, Becky Illig (Greg) of Eighty-Four; one sister, Ellen Sims of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Kyle, Michael, Justin and Braden; and his former wife, Mary E. Sims. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23rd, with Rev. Dr. Stuart D. Broberg officiating.
