Raymond James Griffin, Jr., 78, of Washington, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in the Donnell House.
He was born on August 18, 1932, in Washington, a son of Raymond J., Sr. and Ethel May Toland Griffin.
Mr. Griffin had worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served until his honorable discharge wit the rank of Seaman, on August 16, 1955.
A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he was also a member of the LOOM #22, Washington, and the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
He enjoyed watching football, reading, old westerns and sports.
On July 11, 1956, he married Bertha Jane Solomon, who survives.
Also surviving are 6 daughters, Monica Malloy, of South Park, Margaret Swan, of Ridge Spring, SC, Pamela Hollenbach, of Meadowlands, Cynthia Hampton and Michele Shook, both of Washington, and Brenda DiDonato, of Pittsburgh, a brother, Martin Patrick Griffin, of Washington, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., In the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
