James Ray Elliott, Sr., 64, of Washington, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born on October 4, 1946, in Washington, a son of Francis Wayne and Mary Louise Longstreath Elliott.
Mr. Elliott had worked for 18 years as an equipment operator for Brockway Glass #7.
He was Protestant by faith.
A social member of the VFW, he enjoyed oldies, dancing, the outdoors and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He attended Trinity High School.
On December 4, 1964, he married Alana Shoup, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James Ray (Pam) Elliott, Jr., of Washington, 2 daughters, Mary Louise (Bob) Armstrong, of Amity and Stacey (Alex) Elliott, of Avella; a brother, Robert McCord, of Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Melhorn, George Melhorn, Eric Richards, and Michael Elliott; 3 step grandchildren, Dylan Fullgraf, and Travis and Anthony Jeffries 1 great grandson, Calvin Byers, and several cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Levy Elliott, a twin brother, Jack Elliott, a brother, Ron Elliott, and a brother, Larry, who died in Infancy.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
