Edward George “Butch” Black, 66, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, in Donnell House, following a 2 ½ year battle with cancer.
He was born November 25, 1944, in Washington, a son of John Edward Black, who was killed in action in World War II, and the late McClese Huffman Ermacoff.
Mr. Black graduated from Avella High School in 1963. He worked in the dietary department at the Washington Hospital and was a janitor at St. Michael’s Church, Canonsburg, and Faith United Presbyterian Church, Washington.
Mr. Black loved his dog, J.B. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and stories. He also loved to fish and enjoyed rock ‘n roll music.
On June 21, 1969, he married Dora Wolfe, who survives.
Also surviving are three sisters, Carol (Jack) McKee of Pleasant Hills, Nancy (Richard) Tustin of Hickory and Kathy Ermacoff of Washington; two nieces, Lisa Evans and Amy Vollbrecht; two nephews, Richard Tustin and John (Nikki) McKee; two great-nieces, Abby Evans and Taylor McKee; and four great-nephews, Lucas Evans, Jackob Vollbrecht, Jackson Vollbrecht and Trevor McKee.
Deceased is his stepfather, John Ermacoff.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 19th. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
