Robert Wayne Larkin, 86, of Washington, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born September 24, 1924, in Manifold, a son of John Martin Larkin and Bertha Robertson Larkin.
Mr. Larkin attended Trinity High School. On May 8, 1944, he was inducted in to the Army and served with the 124th Cavalry in the East Indies, Burma and India. For his service he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. Mr. Larkin was honorably discharged from Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland, on April 17, 1946.
For 42 years, he worked at local steel mills, Precision Grinding, Allegheny Ludlum and Jessop Steel.
He was a member of Washington Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and enjoyed his grandchildren and yard work.
On March 29, 1952, he married Rose Desmond, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra S. (Dominic) Talotta of Scott Township; a sister, Gail Hart of Houston; three grandchildren, Matthew (Kara), Ryan (Sara) and Michael (Nikki) Talotta; a great-grandchild, Carter Matthew Talotta; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Harold, Delmar, David and John Larkin; and four sisters, Leila Moore, Vera Bennett, Grace Shoup and Virginia Orndoff.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 22nd, with Rev. James Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
