Carol Lea Crouch, 70, of Washington, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, in the Donnell House, following a short illness.
She was born in Washington on March 5, 1941, a daughter of Carl “ Doc “ and Nellie Berdine Whipple, Sr.
Carol was a 1959 graduate of Trinity High School and graduated from Penn Commercial Business School. She worked more than twenty years as an accountant and controller for Lang’s Ladies Clothing Stores. She later worked ten years as an executive assistant as Penn Mold Corporation.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed Country Music. She supported and followed local school sports and was an active volunteer for many Parent Club activities at Trinity North. Yearly, she could be found at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life walking to raise money in an effort to help others. Additionally, she demonstrated her interest in children by helping several troubled youths complete their high school graduation requirements.
On June 6, 1964, she married James R. Crouch, Jr. who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sherrie L. ( Michael ) Neal, and Debra Ann Crouch Palm, both of Washington; two brothers, Carl “ Bud “ ( Myrtle Ruth ) Whipple, Jr. of Antioch, Tennessee, and Fred G. ( Cynthia ) Chase of Washington; two sisters, Donna May Bryner of Washington and Shirley ( Frank ) Marsicano of Jacksonville, North Carolina; as well as two grandchildren, Scott Crouch and Courtney Crouch, both of whom she raised.
Friends of Carol Lea Crouch, 70, of Washington, who died Saturday, August 27, 2011, will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 PM, and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family is suggesting memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
