Joseph Lawrence Ruffolo, 75, of Washington, died Sunday, September 18, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born August 11, 1936, in Monessen, a son of Nick and Mary Reda Ruffolo.
Mr. Ruffolo graduated from Washington High School in 1954. During high school he sang with the Bel Aires.
He was a veteran of the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania and the Army Reserves.
Mr. Ruffolo worked as a motor assembler at Joy Technology.
He was a 50-year member of St. Hilary Church.
Mr. Ruffolo was an avid fisherman and a Pittsburgh sports fanatic
On May 31, 1997, he married Eleanor Mangin, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Nicholas Ruffolo of Lapeer, Michigan, and Christopher (Heidi) Bury of Washington; three daughters, Danita McKnight of Washington, Donna (Jody) Scott of Cecil, and Shelley (Tony) Knight of Garden City, South Carolina; a brother, Bob (Janice) Ruffolo of Prosperity; a sister, Sandra (Ray) Popeck of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Charles and Alishia McKnight, Joseph Ruffolo, Michael and Jonathan Wright, Michael and Sydney Bury, Emily Nicolella, Kiana and Briana Knight; and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Summer, Kegan and Nathan.
Deceased are his first wife, Reva Ruffolo; a sister, Angie Twardy; and a grandson, Nicholas Ruffolo.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 22nd, in St. Hilary Church, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
