Paul Richard Fonner, Sr., age 68 of Washington, died Friday, September 23, 2011, in UPMC-Oakland, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in West Alexander on December 22, 1942, a son of Charles Edward and Ethel Loar Fonner, and had attended McGuffey Schools.
Mr. Fonner was a member of the Slovak Club, L.O.O.M. # 22, and VFW # 927, all in Washington. He enjoyed country music and dancing as well as spending time with his family.
Surviving are sons, Paul R. Jr., Terry Lee, and John Wayne ( Terri ) Fonner, all of Washington; daughter Diana Lynn ( Anthony Sr.) Darby of Washington; a brother Robert Fonner of Sacramento, California; sisters, Betty Fordyce of Wheeling, Linda Fonner of Washington, and Jane ( Paul ) Goin of Cleveland; grandchildren, Shayne, Joshua, Ryan, Justin, Mason, and Madison.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Roger, James and Charles Fonner and sisters, Mary Ann, Alice, and Grace.
Friends of Paul Richard Fonner, Sr., age 68 of Washington, who died Friday, September 23, 2011, will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
