Doris M. Rush

Doris Marjorie Rush, 87, of Washington, died Friday, September 30, 2011, in her residence, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 25, 1924, in Delphine, a daughter of Clyde R. and Thelma Rinehart Hughes. Mrs. Rush was 1943 graduate of Trinity High School and was a homemaker. A lifetime member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, she served as elder, deacon, and was a member of the Ladies Aide Group. Mrs. Rush was active in Prosperity Homemakers and was a previous 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Washington Senior Citizens, enjoyed sewing and gardening, and was an avid scrabble player. On August 14, 1946, she married William E. Rush, who died April 26, 2008. Surviving are a son, John William (Donna) Rush, of New Concord, Ohio; and a daughter, Linda Lee Anderson, of Evans City; seven grandchildren, Robert, Paul, Kerri, Kelli, Kristina, Kimberly, and Jason; 14 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dottie Legerski, of Washington; three nephews and a niece. Deceased is a brother, Glenn Leroy Hughes. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, with the Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Amedisys Hospice, 2215 Hill Church Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317, or Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
