Helen Yvonne “Sissy” Jenkins Strawn, 56, of Washington, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, following a courageous, 19-year battle with cancer.
She was born August 21, 1955, in Washington, a daughter of the late William and Louise Pounds Jenkins.
Mrs. Strawn attended Trinity High School.
She was a waitress at Donut Connection as well as a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed watching football.
On February 24, 1989, she married Larry Strawn, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Terry (Denise) Harps of Washington; two brothers, Carl (Renee) Jenkins and William (Dotty) Jenkins; a sister, Debra (Harry) Sampson; two grandchildren, Holly and T.J. Harps; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Jackie Mock. She also leaves her beloved dog, Champ.
Deceased are a son, Jason Harps; and two brothers, Ricky and Kenny Jenkins.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 13th, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
