Loyal N. “Blackie” Carson, 84, of Washington, died on Sunday, October 16, 2011, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born on March 1, 1927, in Coal Center, a son of the late Herman and Irene Allman Carson.
Mr. Carson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Avery United Methodist Church.
A member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, which was one of his favorite hobbies, he also belonged to the Mon Valley Region AACA, where he served as President, from 1976 to 1977 and the Covered Bridge Region AACA, of Washington, PA.
He also was a member of the Scenery Hill Lions Club, where he served as President in 1963, a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, since 1953, the Beallsville F&AM Lodge #237, Olin F. Wright Lodge #79, Plant City, FL, Washington Lodge #164, Scottish Rite Consistory Lodge #32, Valley of Pittsburgh, PA and the Lodge of Perfection, Uniontown.
He also loved to travel.
Mr. Carson was employed by West Penn Power Company, for 26 years and Allegheny Power Company, as a service corporation analyst, for 13 years, until his retirement in 1986.
On October 15, 1949, he married Jacqueline Morrow, who survives.
Also surviving is a brother, Frank M. Carson, of Washington.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Douglas Kaye Carson, 2 brothers, H. Wayne Carson and Lester W. Carson and 3 sisters, Zelda C. Kozar, Freda L. Crise and Vera Ruth Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., in Avery United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating.
Inurnment will be private and held at the convenience of the family, at Beallsville Cemetery.
