Dorothy Strawn Gould

Dorothy Strawn Gould, 74, of Washington (Pancake), died at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011, in the Washington Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1937, a daughter of the late Homer and Virginia Strawn. Mrs. Gould was a graduate of Trinity High School class of 1955. An avid reader, her favorite pastimes were playing poker with her Thursday night card group of friends, and spending all of her free time playing the slot machines at the casino. A loyal Trinity Lacrosse fan, she never missed any of her 2 grandsons’ games. Mrs. Gould was a member of the Alpine Club, Lagonda Homemakers, and the Red Hat Society. She was a past member of the Wednesday night Alpine Women’s League, Saturday night Mixed Couples League, and a board member of the Washington Women’s Bowling Association. A former employee of Tygart Glass, she had also been employed at G.C. Murphy’s on Main Street, Washington, and had also been the Personnel Director at G.C. Murphy’s at the Washington Mall for many years. Mrs. Gould is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas E. Gould. Also surviving are a son, Thomas H. (Patricia) Gould, of Washington, a grandson, Jonathan T. Gould, of Washington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a grandson, Aaron M. Gould. Friends will be received in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave. Washington, PA on Sunday, from 2 to 7 p.m., the time of service, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. At the family’s request, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lacrosse Aaron M. Gould Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the family.
