Donald Eugene McGuire, 81, of Washington, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, died unexpectedly, Monday, November 7, 2011, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born October 27, 1930, in Dennison, Ohio, a son of Edward Thomas McGuire and Margaret Ann Oliver McGuire.
Mr. McGuire was a graduate of Moon Township High School. For 37 years, he worked at Emery Air Freight, retiring as operations manager.
He attended Abundant Life Baptist Church and was a volunteer at the Washington Hospital and The Turning Point. Mr. McGuire enjoyed attending family events and attending church.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from September 3, 1950 until June 4, 1952.
On July 16, 1954, he married Beatrice Joanne Thomas, who died August 1, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Daniel (Mary Kate) McGuire of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Patricia J. Lutz of Washington and Donna Carringer of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Carrie) Lutz, Hayden (Erin) Lutz, Nathan (Jill) Lutz, Sara, Leah and Seth Carringer, Jason McGuire, and Gabrielle McGuire; and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Callahan, Alexander, Bishop and Ryan Lutz.
Deceased is his twin sister, Mary Lee.
Friends will be received Noon to 3 p.m., the time of service, Friday, November 11th, in Abundant Life Baptist Church, 269 Cameron, Road, Washington, with Rev. George Garancosky officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Turning Point, 199 North Main St., Washington PA 15301.
