David Lee “Uncle Dave” Canan, 78, of Washington, died Monday, November 7, 2011, in Kade Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born May 21, 1933, in Washington, a son of David M. Canan and Mary Margaret Lawrence Canan.
Mr. Canan attended Washington High School. For 33 years, he worked at Brockway Glass as an inspector, then worked at Greenery Specialty Care, Canonsburg.
Mr. Canan was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach and Amish Country as well as gardening and crafts.
On November 20, 1965, he married Katheryn “Kit” Dillie, who died August 13, 2006.
Surviving are a brother, Robert (Rita) Canan of DuBois; four sisters, Evelyn Wood of Washington, Emma Jean Loughry of Houston, Peggy Lou (Peter) Adamiak of Pittsburgh, and Delores Haynos of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a nephew, Chad A. Guthrie.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 11th, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Elevator Fund, 711 Rural Valley Road, Washington, PA 15301.
