Irma Catherine Pyles Davis, 77, of Wind Ridge, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in her residence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 10, 1933, in Aleppo Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late William Pyles and Evelyn E. Hewitt Clutter. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Arthur Clutter, who is also deceased.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker. She volunteered at Washington Food Pantry and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
On January 3, 1953, she married John O. Davis, Sr., who died February 5, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Walter (Cindy) Davis, Sr., of Washington; four daughters, Twila Davis of Washington, Wanda (Jody) Strennen of Scenery Hill, Sarah Davis-Martin of Wind Ridge, and Glenda (Jim) Tennant of Lone Pine; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Josh, Christopher, Orville, Walter Jr.,Loucinda, Chad, Jennifer, Cory, Nathan, Alyssa, and Patty; and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, John Davis Jr.; a grandson, Shawn; and a brother, William B. Pyles, Sr.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 12th, with Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
