Mary Jubas Kania

Member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church. Mary Jubas Kania, 92, of Washington, died on Saturday, December 24, 2011, in the Washington County Health Center. She was born in Seward, PA, a daughter of Michael and Jennie Lojek Jubas. Mrs. Kania worked in the dietary department of Washington and Jefferson College, as a cook and baker. She was a member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church in Canton Township. On September 2, 1940, she married Joseph Stanley Kania, who died as a result of a flash fire, along with 4 other men, at the Jessop Steel Co., on November 8, 1946. Throughout her life, Mary lovingly cared for her children, family and friends. Her hospitality knew no bounds. Surviving are a brother, Joseph E. Jubas, of Washington, a son, Joseph E. Kania, of Carmichaels, 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Robert) Stuck, of Carmichaels, and Joyce Wingett, of Leetsdale; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Klimek, Michael Kania, Donnica Wingett and Christopher Kania, a godson, Glen R. Dean, of Washington, and several nephews and nieces. Deceased are 3 brothers, Frank, John and Andy Jubas, and 3 sisters, Anna Giacometti, Rose Savage and Julia Dean. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, with Father Mark Swoger as Celebrant. Burial was at the Washington Cemetery.
