Lucy LaBella Amon, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in the Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Canton Township, a daughter of Daniel and Fondina Oliveto LaBella.
Mrs. Amon was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School. She retired from Mike’s Packing Company, where she had worked as a counter clerk for many years.
Mrs. Amon was a member of Avery United Methodist Church and former member of the Vittoria Lodge. She was an avid bowler and dart ball player and enjoyed crafts and her cats.
On March 14, 1943, she married William P. Amon, who died January 16, 2001.
Surviving are a son, William C. Amon of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Kathleen Schofield and Carolyn L. Amon, both of Washington; two sisters, Josephine Orris and Margaret LaBella, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Thomas B. Rogers, Jennifer (Mark) Miller, Warren Amon and Daniel Amon; and two great-grandchildren, Evan and Nicholas Miller.
Deceased are a daughter, Lucile Rogers; four brothers, Mike, Charles, Daniel and Anthony LaBella; and two sisters, Mary Bonus and Elena Helen Steratore.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31st. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 331 South Main St., Washington PA 15301.
