Daniel Franklin Phillips, 74, of Washington, died Friday, January 13, 2012, in Kade Nursing Home, Canton Township.
He was born July 3, 1937, in Washington, son of Frank and Bertha Lightner Phillips.
Mr. Phillips worked in the Washington, D.C., and Virginia areas in the construction business as a carpenter/framer.
He appreciated the many visits from the minister of Wesley Methodist Church and was a former member of Stanley Bible Baptist Church in Stanley, Va., where he drove bus for the church.
Surviving are six sons, Daniel Franklin Phillips Jr., Louis Robert Phillips Sr., and Mark Shawn Phillips Sr., all of Washington, Timothy John Phillips of Luray, Va., Jack Phillips of New Stanton and Kent Phillips of Scottdale; three daughters, Tonya R. (Larry) Arbogast of Washington, Sandra Leska of Grottoes, Va., and Virginia Bane of Cokeburg; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Robert Phillips, and a grandson, Ryan Phillips.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, with Pastor David Price officiating. Burial will follow in North Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery, Amity.
